"This story gently encourages readers to break free from those barriers and embrace what truly brings them joy, even if it means challenging norms or personal inhibitions. Told in simple language accompanied with beautiful illustrations, Surya’s story carries a message, not only for children, but for adults too."

"Putting people into boxes as to what they should or shouldn't do (instead of acknowledging the gifts and the talents of each one), is just so passé. Happily, this delightful book shows that all children are guided by their innermost beings, and that by supporting each one to find his or her own individual path, happiness is sure to follow."

"Such an important story about gender roles and identity. While this story is related to dance, it really can resonate and connect in many ways!"

"Surya’s fear of being teased for loving dance is something many children can relate to, making this a powerful tool for parents and teachers to open up conversations about identity, courage, assumptions."
